This small, modern zoo near the entrance to Emigration Canyon is home to 1,100 animals representing over 250 species. Take a stroll through a solarium with exotic plants and birds, tropical gardens, rare Grevy's zebras, and a giraffe house with a balcony so you can look eye-to-eye with the tall-necked creatures. One of the younger residents of the zoo is Acara, an orangutan born at the zoo in 2005. In summer, rides on a small replica of an 1869 steam train are offered for the bargain price of $1. As with any zoo, it's best to visit in a cooler season, or at least the coolest part of the day, when more animals are out and about. Allow 1 to 2 hours. The Discovery Theatre presents three children's programs daily.

An outstanding place to see exquisite birds you'll never see again in your lifetime. A site of a former zoo, The Tracy Avery provides a large, spacious, relaxed environment in which birds can be viewed. More than ducks and pelicans, this aviary has birds from around the world, many with amazing colors and plumage. Tracy Aviary is located within a large park, Liberty Park, which offers a number of other activities. I had low expectations before my visit, and now would put it at the top of a must-see list. Honestly, how often do we stop and enjoy nature's bounty, and in such a beautiful setting?

This is community theater at its best. It's family fare and top quality. The theater is first rate. Elegant lobby, theater seating in the round so there's not a bad seat in the house. The mechanized stage is incredible.

This place has gone through some changes over the past few years---all for the best. While good before, it's quite enjoyable as a great family outing for several hours now. We all love to go at least once a year!
